Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez will be the cover athlete for MLB The Show 17 in Canada, PlayStation announced Wednesday.Sanchez enjoyed a breakout season in Toronto’s rotation last season, earning an All-Star nod and finishing seventh in AL Cy Young voting.The 24-year-old went 15-2 with an AL-best 3.00 ERA over 192.0 regular season innings.

The forthcoming baseball sim MLB The Show 17 promises to do a lot for fans of the sport when it arrives in March.But one particular mode that has piqued our interest is Retro Mode, a Ken Griffey Jr.-style game that’s included with all the other activities.Sony posted a new PlayStation blog this morning talking about what to expect from the mode, which is “pretty much a one-button mode, but with surprising depth, and all the new animations, gameplay additions, and improvements found in the regular version of the game,” said Ramone Russell, senior community specialist and game designer for Sony’s San Diego Studio.

Sony has shared some new information about MLB The Show 17’s Retro mode, which is a slimmed-down, arcade-style version of the professional baseball game.You use basically only one button, X, for everything, including pitching, batting, and fielding, according to this post on the PlayStation Blog.For pitching, you only aim side to side, not up or down for aiming.
