WXYZ : reported that Will Major League Soccer come to the Motor City?

As it stated in DETROIT (WXYZ) – Major League soccer has been a topic of conversation for awhile now in the Motor City.
The idea behind the proposal of an MLS soccer team is to boost the already seemingly endless energy going into Detroit’s renaissance.
If approved, their plan would bring an MLS team to metro Detroit.
Soon we could learn more about plans to bring a soccer team to metro Detroit at the site of the stalled Wayne County jail near the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
Later today, we expect to learn more about plans from billionaire businessman Dan Gilbert and Pistons owner Tom Gores.

Detroit to bid for Major League Soccer expansion team

(Photo: Salwan Georges, DFP)Buy PhotoDetroit is one of about a dozen cities planning to make a deadline today to bid for a Major League Soccer expansion team.
While some markets have existing teams in the United Soccer League or North American Soccer League — which are one level below the MLS — Detroit doesn’t appear to be hindered by not having a second-division club.
“We believe the success of Major League Soccer is driven by visionary and dedicated owners,” Courtemanche said.
The MLS expansion committee and Commissioner Don Garber will review expansion applications and then conduct in-person meetings with potential owners and officials soon afterward.
Garber said he considered the jail site important to Detroit’s bid, though it’s not believed to be a deal-breaker.
