Strava’s Android Wear 2.0 App Doesn’t Require A Smartphone to Record Activities quoting : Digital Trends

as mentioned in The popular fitness app now lets users record and upload activities straight from Android Wear 2.0 watches — without requiring a phone to be nearby.
An Android or iPhone is only required for the initial setup, but you can install the Wear 2.0 Strava app directly from your Android Wear watch’s Play Store.
The Android Wear 2.0 update will roll out to a select number of existing devices in the coming weeks, particularly toward the end of February.
Expect to see more announcements from app developers about their optimizations with Android Wear 2.0 as the update nears the rollout date.
Strava has optimized its Android Wear app to make use of the latest 2.0 revamp that was officially announced Wednesday alongside the brand new LG Watch Style and Watch Sport.

As it stated in Google launched a new version of its smartwatch OS on Wednesday, along with two LG watches, the LG Watch Sport and the LG Watch Style.

The cellular provider announced it will be selling its own network-exclusive wearable, the $300 Wear24 smartwatch alongside the $330 LG Sport Watch.
Like the LG Sport Watch, a major selling point of the Wear24 is LTE data.
On the heels of Google and LG announcing two new smartwatches running Android Wear 2.0, Verizon is getting in on the action as well.
However, the device may be a better option than the LG Sport for those who want an LTE-capable Android Wear device simply because of its bigger battery.
At first glance, the Wear24 appears thinner than LG’s Sport Watch but will offer many of the general features found in the Sport.
