Swimming & Diving Begins Competition at Atlantic 10 Championship according to : fordhamsports

As it stated in Geneva, Ohio – The Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship is underway at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, with the Fordham Rams having a strong day one.
Wendy Espina-Esquivel earned All-Atlantic 10 honors for the second year in a row.
The Rams’ team of, andearned fifth place in a record time of 1:29.67, topping the previous mark of 1:31.14, set in 2014.The other men’s event on day one was the 800 freestyle relay, where the Rams again set a school record., and Mattox just missed the podium, taking fourth place in a school record time of 6:40.14, bettering the previous mark of 6:41.92, set in 2013.Day two of the Championship begins at 10:00 AM on Thursday with preliminaries, followed by the finals at 6:30 pm.
The Fordham women sit third out of 11 teams after three events, while the Fordham men are fifth out of eight teams following two events.On the women’s side, Massachusetts leads the competition with 119 points, followed by Richmond (77), Fordham (74), Duquesne (74), Davidson (72), Saint Louis (56), St. Bonaventure (53), George Mason (52), Rhode Island (45), La Salle (37), and George Washington (32).The first event of the championship was the 200 medley relay, where Fordham’s team of, andplaced sixth in a season-best time of 1:42.79.The one-meter dive event then took center stage, where junior diverearned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors for the second straight year, taking second with a score of 271.00 points.
Freshmanalso scored for Fordham, finishing 14overall, posting a score of 192.80 in the final, after putting together a score of 217.75 in the preliminaries.was the final Ram diver, taking 21overall with a score of 178.65 points.The final women’s event was the 800 freestyle relay, which saw Fordham’s group of, Polaha,, andplace fifth in a season-best time of 7:26.54.Over on the men’s side, St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis are tied at the top with 66 points, followed by La Salle (64), Massachusetts (60), Fordham (58), George Mason (50), George Washington (40), and Davidson (22).The 200 medley relay kicked things off with Fordham setting a school record.

As it stated in Swimming and Diving kicks off SEC Championships with runner-up finish and new school recordThe Alabama women’s swimming and diving team began the 2017 SEC Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee with a school record on Tuesday, and the men’s team tacked on a runner-up finish in a relay.
At the conclusion of day one, the Alabama men’s team ranked seventh with 119 points, and the women’s team stands in ninth with 87 points.
The women’s 800 freestyle relay team, made up of juniors Mia Nonnenberg and Temarie Tomley and freshmen Cameron Brown and Line Bruun, clocked in at 7:11.24, leading to an 11th-place finish.
Zane had a great anchor leg, probably our best leg of the race, but he swam against a guy who is one of just two in the history of NCAA swimming under 18 seconds.”
It also set a school record and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
